PH2017

MAY 2017

Solo exhibition at Panter & Hall in London opened this week. I didn't go down for the show but a photo from the private view is shown above, kindly supplied by the gallery. Sales have gone well.

Excellent Duncan Shanks exhibition at The Scottish Gallery this month. Here are two I particularly liked. There is also the gallery's 175th birthday exhibition including a selection of small paintings by gallery artists including my painting shown on the right.

The photo below was taken from our front window. Sparrowhawks are regular visitors to the garden, attracted by the small birds at the bird table. They usually swoop in very quickly but this one decided to sit quietly for a good few minutes and posed very conveniently.

My apologies for neglecting this blog. I spent much of last year moving my wife's 88 year old mother from Edinburgh to a house in Clovenfords. Once all the selling and buying had been done, the removal had to be organised as well decorating the new house and buying new furniture. I didn't do any painting work for about three months. Mother-in-law is now doing much better and enjoying her new life. There is still much looking after but better than driving up and down to Edinburgh.

I had much to catch up with in the new year preparing for a solo exhibition at Panter & Hall in May. Pantings all wrapped up and getting collected next week. I also have a few paintings going to Josie Eastwood Fine Art in Winchester.

There hasn't been much of interest going on in the art world though I did manage to get to see the Joan Eardly show at the Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh. Worth going just to see those big seascapes. An interesting show with the addition of many small works, photos and letters.

I was asked to contribute a small article for the Artists & Illustrators magazine May issue. It is out now (end March)!
